Decent FIC
If anything looks to good to be true it probably is. I've recently heard some horror stories from high up in the CAA about some courses that are a complete sham....ie student FI has never even given a briefing.
I can finish a single FI in 20 working days if the weather plays the game and we both work hard...then there's the test on top. I always recommend allowing up to 25 days though.
You should expect to be given all pre-flight briefings and give most of them back to the tutor. If there are 2 students on the course ittakes longer, but you gain so much from sitting watching your "oppo" do it. Also expect to do 2 long briefings, plus plenty of discussion on Air Law, Human Factors, AGK etc

Instruction!
Go and find Dave Coulson! Regardless of how old he is or what he charges. You will never ever get a chance like this again to fly with a complete master. I now fly as a skipper on the bus but would never have even made the starting gate without the old mans help.
Even the birds check in with him for spin training!
Just don't mention the donkey!

Cracking FIC in the East Midlands
Give Alan Cooper a shout at Retford Flying School (Gamston Airport). He's an instructor, examiner and a Citation pilot with 10,000+ hours - definately knows his onions!!
After completing my ME CPL & ME IR at the Flight Centre, Halfpenny Green, I looked for an FI course close to home in the East Midlands.
Alan was previously the CFI at East Midlands Flying School (EGNX) and has now set up his own school at Gamston Airport. I completed the course in 6 weeks. The folks at Gamston Airport are really friendly and if, like me, you goal is corporate aviation, there are enough Citation and King Air aircraft movements to watch and dream about!
