Additional FI ratings
I'm thinking of adding an 'advanced' instructors rating to my licence, and wondered what you all thought would be the most useful. The options are:
Aerobatics instructor. (I'd need to to an AOPA aerobatics course first, as well)
FIC instructor
PPL flight examiner.
I'm suitably qualified for all of the above, but would like opinions on best value for money, most useful, rewarding etc.
Many thanks

Do the aero's rating and you'll spend most yer time doing one loop-the-loop on all the company Red Letter days before the punter ralfs up their lunch in yer lap.
FIC rating sounds like a lot of work and very rewarding however would you get much more per hour unless you were operating the whole op yourself and charging what you like?
I'd go for examiner - rake in all those test fee's for zilcho work - sounds like a no-brainer to me! What's the damage for adding that rating then?
VFE.

FE seems to be about £1000 + aircraft hire for the course. However the CAA need to approve a candidate on a reginal basis - i.e does airport X need nother examiner. Fortunately where I work, the CFI has just retired.
There is a shortage of FIC instructors and if you do it then there is guaranteed income. Its hard work and you need to go through a selection procedure to demonstrate you know how to do it and rate as an above average FI. There is also a 2 day course following the selection day plus a test. The approval is one off and non expiring but you have to renew by test every 3 years.
Examiner is dependent upon demand, tests may bring in more in the short term but the number is finite so you'd probably earn more as a FIC I. Examiner course is £400 plus aircraft hire for dummy PPL Skill Test say 2.5 hours.

Just to correct last post - examiner course is £800 plus aircraft for dummy test of hopefully not much over 1.3 hours if candidate has taken briefings on board...
FIC approval can take up to 9 months of hard work by the time you jump through all the hoops but there is a definite shortage of GOOD FIC providers. Once again I am booked up 4 and a half months ahead and that is without any advertising...
