Conflicting Advice on CPL Schools... Where to Go?
Hi guys,
I am currently studying for my ATPL's Up in Scotland, and hopefully should be finished by start of June. I’m going to head over to Canada to do a bit of hour building... but after that, come back and start my CPL, and ME-IR after that, and if that wasn't enough get hopefully a FI. Rating so I'll not be sitting on my arse while, I look and pray to God I get my first break. (more than likely flying a PA28-Archer filled with rubber dog **** out of Hong Kong).
I would like to get a good picture of recommended schools in the UK for doing a CPL and ME-IR.
I know that some schools are slightly better than others.. and again industry might look slightly more favourable on students that have come from certain schools.... (but again does it matter?)
So I throw the floor open to any useful information that people can give me.

My two penneth worth....
CPL followed by FI(R). Work as an instructor while doing the ME/IR.
Reasoning, twofold. Imerse yourself in the environment and, as an instructor, your flying skills and understanding of what's going on are so much better.
(And there is always the possibility of staff rates!)
As to where, not convinced that it makes too much difference if you're modular.

Cheers for comments DD... :-)
It had crossed my mind, to hold off on ME-IR, doing the FI rating and at least having a bit of money coming in, how ever many cans of beans that would purchase these days. (Im pretty realistic that FI's aren't well paid... but its flying hours after all )
Figure there are still airlines who turn their nose up at people who have went down the modular route... but I really wasn't in a position to throw 70-80K at the whole intergarated course...
maybe having a decent CPL, and IR from a UK school based might still be worth something.....?
But maybe your right too... and it really wouldn't make that much difference at the end of the day where I go, as long as I walk out with a piece of paper.

Most important thing is go and visit the school, see who the people are, look at their manuals, their aircraft and what they have to offer. See how hours are charged, Tacho, Airborne Log, Hobbs etc; are landing fees included?

thanks Whopity...
cheers for comment...
I spoke to a few friends of mine and have narrowed it down to I think maybe three possible schools.. been to one already and see what they have to offer...
So open day is next month for school number two... I've got a million and one things to ask them apart flying around London's TMA's... maybe dundee is the way forward after all... lots of un restricted airspace... and local geography might prove to win out right....
(its a really tough call... THIS IS VERY PERSONAL!!! AND I DON'T really want to start a war here... maybe some helpful comments might be nice! anyone been to Stapleford recently???? whats teaching like?)
