Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

Any FI jobs going somewhere hot with nice weather???

Basically I have been instructing since October in the UK and have managed a very poor 100 hours.

Does anyone know of any jobs going abroad where I would be able to instruct almost every day and won't have trouble getting a visa?

I have a CPL, SE, ME, IR, and FI (R) with 400 TT of which 100 are instruction given.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Getting a visa would be a doddle compared to dealing with CASA, but there's shed loads of jobs for instructors in Oz at the moment !

Of course the commute might be a bit of a bugger ...

I suppose the lazy question is "how mad are FTE for restricted PPL instructors?"

Malta School of Flying were looking for instructors last time I looked - wasn't too thrilled with the bonding aspect (hinted at a possible cash flow prob!) but who knows what the score is now.

Anyone know what the money is like for FI's in Oz and what sorta lifestyle one could scrape off the wage?

Cheers,

VFE.

polohippo,

100hrs since Oct in the UK actually sounds quite good to me.

Have you considered the U.S.A? Try contacting the UK integrated FTO's who may have an overseas fairweather operation with a requirement for JAA FI's (possibly even restricted). They may have a facility for arranging visas etc.

Thanks everyone, I've tried a few schools in Florida but they said I would have to arrange my own visa. Apart from marrying an American or investing 250000 quid I'm not sure how to go about it!!

I'll have a look at some of the other ideas though, I'm just bored sat around not flying at the moment!

Not surprisingly, T's & C's vary hugely, and it's never gonna make you a millionaire unfortunately. You can still find schools that are taking their instructors for a ride (so to speak), but there are many now paying above award. The wage numbers I heard from China Southern WA last week tempt me to move to their place in the desert (Merredin), and I also heard that RACWA have less than 50 instructors compared to a normal complement of around 80.

Some high-profile organisations are now offering sponsorships for Instructor training, and there have been ads offering to get non-current instructors current again for free (!). I'd guess they want some kind of committment though ...

The two schools I have worked at in the last few years, are both excellent small operations (3 or 4 instructors) in warm, relaxed parts of Australia. Neither have been able to find desperately-needed new instructors in the last 12 months.
