tipical salary for experienced fi/mei in the uk?

Well, the title says it all. Can a fi/mei with experience make a living out of it in the uk?

The typical salary is probably somewhere around £35k with the big integrated schools paying into the 40's. The lowest salary I've personally heard on offer this year is £26k.
