Wanting to do a FI course soon. Have visited quite a few schools, some good some not so good. Anyhow since pprune is a wealth of information I was wondering if any folk out there could tell me some good schools; schools you would recommend.

If you want to do it the military way try DEFTS at Barkston Heath. Nice shiny planes, good facilities etc.etc. People have been employed there afterwards as instructors. (and they are not very expensive either)

arf, I didn't realise they were booked up solid like that, keep in touch with them if you don't find anywhere, people do have a tendancy not to pay a deposit or 2 etc.

With Eva at The Pilot Centre, Denham. www.pilotcentre.co.uk. Carol Cooper at Andrewsfield was the examiner - recommend either of them!
Rumour has it that Wycombe Air Centre may be back in the running with FI courses shortly.

Check the website for ONTRACK AVIATION out. They are based at Wellesbourne and specialise in tailoring a course around a student. Staffed by highly experienced ex military instructors & display pilots. They fly rather nice aircraft as a bonus!
