Keeping your IR whilst flying abroad
This one got me thinking.....
If one has a UK/JAR IR fATPL and subsequently fly outside of JAA, and don't renew their UK IR before the 5 years do they still lose it and their fATPL or are there any consessions for having a current other ICAO IR?

Yeah, there is the 7 year rule for the exam credits, but if you leave the IR for more than 5 years in UK you need to do a re-test as apposed to a renewal. At least thats my understanding.
I'd missed the bit about ICAO IRs, so thanks guys.
