Beijing Panam International Aviation Academy
You may have seen the numerous and continuous job ads around the internet recruiting new Flight Instructors, Ground Instructors, etc.....I just thought I'd pass on a little bit of info, some food for thought.....since there doesn't seemto be a whole lot of open knowledge about the place.I resigned from this place and returned back to the US, as have many other people......the work/flying/living conditions were terrible, and from what I hear, still continue will no end in sight. Usually 2-3 people resign each month. The hiring is continuous because new hires are required to replace those who continue to leave! If you've seen the job ads and are considering a move to China, please do your homework. This is not all it seems to be, and I'd hate for anymore people to arrive and be dissapointed and irritated like the majority who are still there. You can expect very little flying, no more than 200 hrs per year with at least 2-4 months sitting on the ground waiting to be certified. When you do fly, you'll always be operating in minimum visibility due to the tremendous amount of pollution in that part of China. Flight operations are a gongshow. Your spirit and motivation will be quickly ruined and you will become irritated, annoyed, depressed, and unhealthy. When your not working, you'll have very little to look forward to for comfort and entertainment. A rundown hotel with 2 english tv channels is were you'll live for most of the year. The city is boring and dirty with very little to entertain or occupy your time. Here's some more perspective from one of the Canadian websites from a few of those guys who are still there: http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?t=17447 Remember the saying, the grass is not always greener!!!
