Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

NPPL (M) Instructor.

Hi,

I have a NPPL (M) for 3 axis microlight, and would like to instruct.

I’m not sure what is required, and although I’ve been looking on the web but I can find a definitive answer. I’ve read that you need 100 hours P1 but that’s about it.

Thanks.

You need to contact the BMAA who will be happy to advise you further.

Or ask your own instructor, since they'll have been through the system themselves.

After gaining 100 + hours P1 on type you can apply to become an AFI which requires you fulfilling a course and passing the exams. My friend did his AFI course in Portugal, which took about 3 weeks, and cost approx 3k I think!! But don't quote me.

Then once sufficient hours acquired as AFI I believe you can take it to FI status. But, as says above - BMAA are best point of info!
