Have a Canadian CPL/Instructor rating - Want to instruct in Europe - suggestions?
Hello everyone.
Im currently a flight instructor in Thunder Bay, Ontario , Canada.
Most of you wont have the slightest idea where Thunder bay is. If your interested look it up, it's quite a unique place.. Cold!!!
I'm a Portuguese citizen and emmigrated to Canada about 10 years ago. I'm itching to do some flight instruction in Europe.
Here is my current status.
500 hrs. TT
300 hrs of flight instruction.
I also have a multi engine - instrument rating..
Any suggestion would be of great help!!

Flown over it many times!
You will have a fair bit of work to do along the lines of:
Pass the JAA ATPL written exams or CPL exams if you only want to instruct.
Enough training to pass the CPL flight test.
Obtain a UK RT Licence
If you want an IR then you will have to do sufficient training to pass the IR Skill Test, min 15 hours.
You will get some credit for the FI rating but will have to do a minimum of 15 hours flying + 30 hours ground school for the SE FI; additional 5 hours flying plus 10 hours ground for ME FI.

In regards to these Jaa exams, I'm still new to the research and have been trying to get as much information as possible from the
net. It's amazing that they require somewhere in the vicinity of 15 exams to be written, up to this point in my career I have only written 4. Wow, you guys are intense!
I'm always up for the challenge so,
Does anyone know if these exams are able to be written outside of Europe, perhaps somewhere closer to North America?
I understand that the flight training has to be completed in Europe, but it would be nice to get some progress done here while I still have an Instructing job.
Also, if anyone could run any links by me with regards to any study reference material for these exams that would be great!

Many of the exam questions were written by accademics who may never have been near an aeroplane so there is a technique to tackling the questions. Don't rely on your previous knowledge alone. There are some very good schools offering a pre-exam course e.g.http://www.bristol.gs/ A load of instructors from a school in NZ went there as part of their NZ/JAA crossover.
You can take the exams in Florida. You can also take the CPL Skill test in the USA or Moncton in Canada. The IR Skill test must be conducted in Europe.
