FI (R) taken on after or just go for it?

Apologies if this has been covered.

Thinking of doing my FI (R) rating. Should I be looking for a school that will think of taking me on after the courese or should I just get a rating and worry about this afterwards.

I know nothing in our industry is simple or straight forward so any info would be great.... thanks for your time!!

Why do it if it's not fun?

I would suggest starting to look maybe a week or two before taking your test. That's what I did, and even then I found that schools weren't really interested until I actually passed the test. When they need instructors, they need them right now - they don't plan far enough in advance to be interested in you before you start your course.

Good luck.

It may be worth thinking about where you do your FI course as some schools prefer to take on PPL instructors that they have themselves trained. (Though as FFF says, they rarely know very far in advance whether/when there will be vacancies)
