Teaching famous people
I have just watched the repeat of Jonathon Ross On Friday Night. In it Eddie Izzard appeared and apparently he is some kind of PPL. . .. .I am a huge Eddie fan. I would have given my left arm to have taught him to fly. Its always illuminating to teach someone to fly. You share an awful lot of insight during the process. To have done this with EI would have been extraordinary. I almost got to teach someone famous whom I admired but it never came off. I am intrigued to hear other FI's experiences in this respect.. .. .It seems a dissproportinate number of high profile people are pilots. Probably a function of wealth and their travel experience.. I will never forget Eddie Izzards routine about flying in S Ireland in something like a Twotter and the pilot having Jammy Dodger biscuits.... .. .WWW

WWW,. .. .We have had Sports Stars, Rock Stars, Business, and Entertainment personalities train at NAC. When they come to us, they are just like the student who comes to us after completing their University studies. We treat them like all the other students.. .. .The first couple of days are tense till they realize most of the local people do not know who they are and they can just be themselves. At that point they can relax and have a good time. . .. .The instruction has been normal in most cases. There have been a few times that work has pulled them away early. Other than those instances their training goes at the same pace as other students.. .. .There is a funny story about a German Rock Star that did all his FAA ratings with us about 6 years ago. The first day, he arrived with his hair all frizzed out, studded leather jacket, the blue jeans with about 1,000 slits in them, and some sort black leather boots. When he walked in the door he realized no one recognized him. The next day he came in with some regular jeans and a T-shirt and had a great time. He came to us for a PPL and had so much fun he kept coming back till he had his Commercial Multi Engine Instrument Rating.. .. .Take Care,. .. .Richard

Mr Izzard learnt to fly at Denham with Cabair. I saw him there one day a few years ago now during one of his lessons.. .Steve Mcfadden (Phil Mitchell off Eastenders to you and me) was learning to fly at Elstree again with the aforementioned flight training establishment. That was a few years ago too. I'm not sure if he finished his training.

Wonder if they checked with their insurers first.. .. .A lot of these guys and gals must have SEP exclusions in their policies. Especially the loss of earnings as a result of injury ones!!. .. .We know its safe but insurers don't!. .. . <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />

Gave Ulrich Van Roth (Scorpions rock band from 80s fame) a lesson a few weeks ago. REally nice guy - loves house plants and kept asking how many guitars he could fit in different types of a/c.
