becoming an instructor

I have an American Commercial, multiengine and instrument ratings and a British PPL,IMC and multi ratings. I have 2400 hours with about 1500 in twins. I am interested in possibly becoming an instructor and would like to know what it would take, is there a need for them and is there any financial support? Thanks 777YM

Do you mean in the UK or USA? I'm sure there are plenty of intructors here in the UK who can give you plenty of advice.

Yankee Mike...I am surprised. PPRuNers are a great bunch of guys and gals and are normally very quick to offer sound advice.

Where are you based at the moment?

Triple 7 Yankee Mike - sorry that I've missed this thread. You need to get a UK (or JAA) commercial licence to be able to instruct for remuneration in the UK - if you're quick you may be able to get a UK BCPL, otherwise it'll have to be the obscenely expensive JAR-FCL CPL. To understand how to convert your FAA instructional qualifications to those which would allow you to instruct at PPL level in the UK on SE aeroplanes, you need to get hold of 'CAA General Information Document No 34' from Westward Digital ltd.
