1500ft Rule to become the 1200ft Rule ?
I heard from a friend who works for the CAA that the 1500ft rule over congested areas is shortly to become the 1200ft Rule ?
Is the is true ?
Apparently its to tackle the problem of areas under TMA's with 2500ft bases, especially around London and the SE where people are then forced to fly between 1500-2500ft often in narrow VFR corridors creating high collision risk ?
Anyone else heard of this rumour ?

I recall that the Rule 5 debate came down in favour of a 1000ft rule - which would, of course, be overridden by the 'glide clear' requirement.

B'eagle - I hadn't heard that one, is that 1000ft and to replace the 1500 and Rule 5 rules with that ?
I know their have been numerous debates about changing the Rule 5 to an 'absolute vertical 500ft' - I think in line with the rest of Europe but the CAA have resisted ..... Would make PFL's and EFATO practice impossible ............
