Talking Night Rating / Qualification

Can anyone tell me what the flying experience requirement for the issue of a JAR Night Qualification Rating ? There appears to be no information in CAP 53 regarding this.

Cheers

No minimum experience (although you must have done your first solo as some of the training is solo) and then it's basically about 5 hours - min. 3 dual including I think 1 hr night nav and 5 takeoffs and landings (full stops) solo. Full details are on the CAAs website under safety regulation. By the way I think CAP 53 is no longer valid. For the actual issue you must have a PPL to have the night qualification issued on, the night training can be part of the training for the PPL.

DB6 is correct, min 5 hours or more if the instructor is not happy to let you go.

On your solo you can do what you want, ie go XC or just fly around in circles.

There is no exam for the NR, if you are still alive at the end your solo then you pass

Julian.
