Question Summer-only instructing

Hi folks,

I hope you don't mind me imposing on your forum with a question...

By the end of the year I hope to have a frozen ATPL/IR/MCC and an FI(R) rating

Given our wonderful British weather, Are there many summer-only instructor posts? Is it feasible for me to plan to instruct summer only and move back to short term contracts in IT (current career) through the winter to refill the bank account?

cheers!
foggy.

Thumbs up

Absolutely. It's probably the most practical way of instructing as schools always need more instructors in summer and don't want to have to pay them in winter when the turnover is much lower (and the pay). Everybody's happy doing it your way, and you don't starve to death in the cold and damp winter months.

Thanks,

It seemed to make so much sense to me that I was worried it made too much sense - especially since I only ever seem to meet instructors who are full-time employed all year round (and are going hungry in winter to prove it )
