Flying Instructors & Examiners A place for instructors to communicate with one another because some of them get a bit tired of the attitude that instructing is the lowest form of aviation, as seems to prevail on some of the other forums!

Reasons to drink (hrs instr. given)

Hi fellow instructors,
In a couple of weeks I'll pass 3000 hrs Instruction given
If you ever need a reason to drink
I think I've lost my sanity a long time ago together with my patience but still enjoy every flight I do.
Some stats:
>80 students completed
10 new instructors trained
7 students scared away (by me, I apologize to all of 'em)
6 partial engine failures (one at night )
3 vacuum pump failures
2 crashes witnessed ( one fatal)
1 tire blown on landing
Never any damage/incidents/accidents (knock on wood)
Can I get some feedback on your hrs instr. given and some of the funny/horror stories?
I've had a wild time in the last 3.5 years

Stats

Scary statistics concerning the failures

2000 hrs of instruction
40 students fully trained
1 total engine failure
2 radio failures

3 fully qualified and dedicated engineers

Nothing scary I'm afraid but lots of lovely time
