How to become a TRI
To all you TRIs help me out here.
Correct me if I'm wrong. The steps to take to become one of you is build up in two faces, one theoretical and one practical. I do need to do the theoretical part with a TRTO/FTO. Anyone know of a place to do this or is it done just for their own pilots. How long is a course like this? The practical part is a 3 h flight in aircraft or simulator with a TRI. It sounds simple but where do find a place to help me out with this.

Initally you require a core course this is non type specific and I think takes a week, I was exempt. The second part is type specific and you will need to find a TRTO that holds approval for the type you are after. CTC did my course for the 737, 2 days in the class room 5 sim sessions, and the test. I was with a colleague so we each spent half the session as a passive P2 and half operating the panel, the test includes a requirment to demonstrate steep turns or engine failure after V1 or an assy go around.
