Excuse me

Just checking if anybody had left any lights on

Bye

Genghis the Engineer 28th October 2000 12:22

I'm starting to suspect that either everybody but you and I are too busy or have nothing to say John.

Hi G

I had an email from a guy who did 6 trips in the VAAC the other day. So at least those guys are busy - thank goodness.

6 sorties = 30 mins total.

6 outbriefs = 3 hours.

Two test programmes on the books at the moment.

One based in Yorkshire, requires calm conditions on the surface. Postponed twice.

One based in Cornwall requires sufficiently calm conditions for t/o performance tests and little enough cloud for spinning. Postponed once so far.

I love the British weather, but at least it's consistent.

Anybody else ever spent several weeks in the Crown in Portpatrick waiting for the weather to go away at West Freugh?

Hello All,

Was tempted to say "The lights are on, but no-one's home..."

I think our lot at Farnborough and BD are a bit apathetic at the moment, too much time filling in staff reports, not enough flying...

Genghis,

Know exactly how you feel. The horizontal stair rods and hairy cross-winds at Wet Thro' have controlled my life over several weeks in the past. But there was always the joy of a pie and chips for lunch.

Hang On, I'm Busy 2nd November 2000 06:16

Sorry to be a dunce, sir. What's a VAAC?

Yrs esteemingly,

etc.

An experimental Harrier based at Boscombe Down, which was radically designed on the assumption that even Harrier pilots only have 2 hands. It's being used as a testbed for future VSTOL aircraft technologies.
