Challenges using Wifi on aircraft

Hello all,

Why do we not see more usage of wireless networks on large aircraft; i.e. what are the challenges? I am thinking experimental FT applications in particular, and the benefit of not needing to run FTI wiring.

Any information would be useful, thanks in advance.

We have 2 x wifi IFE solution on our wide bodies. One is 'hard wired' the other is by use of portable Air-Fi boxes....OK, you only get the media we choose to stream (no Google for example) but it works well.
