David Lockspeiser RIP
David Lockspeiser - obituary - Telegraph
As I schoolboy I well remember his LDA-1 flying over the countryside around Wisley

I realise that this is an old thread, but I have only recently joined this forum and found it.
I was aware that David had passed away, albeit again only recently.
I knew David in Singapore in 1977 when he was flying Hawker Hunters. We had corresponded by email now and again, but I had not seen him since then.
I had to chuckle about the mention in his obituary regarding his car racing. I remember vividly being in the back seat of his hire car in Singapore one night, and I am sure that was the night my hair started to turn grey!
RIP David, you were one of a kind.

I can still see our school Beadle doing a double take as the Lockspeiser LDA-01 flew overhead my Alma Mater near Dunsfold: "I think I must have been overworking" he muttered, shaking his head...
