Airspeed ind. markings in jet vs recip.

Hello

Im just wondering why turbine powered aircraft have no yellow radials on the airspeed markings and are aloud to fly safely very close to Vmo/Mmo as opposed to piston powered aircraft have a yellow radial and are not suggested to be flown in that range of airspeeds? Also what governs the size of that yellow arc? I'm thinking Q, drag and airframe structure play a role here as usual.
