Pilatus
I know that one or two of you on this forum have worked at Pilatus and I know this is a bit of a shot in the dark. But if I undertook an engineering position at Pilatus would there be any scope for getting ferry pilot work with the company as well.
Pilatus are currently advertising for my specialisation on the Engineering side of things, I have close to a 1000 hours flight time, hold an FI(A) with about 100 hours multi turbine experience.

Ive known it happen once but the other way round. A TP was seconded to engineering for a while to help with a large project, mainly on the HMI side of things for the cockpit displays.
However the difficulty arises when your engineering department head is trying to schedule resource/work and you keep having to disappear off for a week or so, presumably at fairly short notice. He might get a little peed off.
All I can suggest is that you write to the HR department and explain your situation and requests and just take it from there.

Thanks for the reply, the only barrier is convincing the other half to relocate.
I get miserable if I am just flying, and when I am just engineering I miss flying, so it would be nice if I could find a job that would allow me to mix the two, but have yet to ever find an opportuntity to mix both. Pilatus seemed about the only company where I thought it may be a possibility.

Do you have any experience with flight testing as an engineer?
The FTEs are fairly regulary involved with the flights and that department may be more flexible in you having to disappear for ferry flights, than the normal engineering depts. That way you have a foot in both doors.
Also think carefully about relocating with a spouse who is not keen on the idea. A few couples have separated due to the strains of being away from the family/home and the other half not easily getting a job here. The Swiss system is not great for the working parents either, with most school children coming home at lunchtime for 1.5 to 2 hours.

I know from my Flight Instructor that they have Contractor Pilots for Ferry Flights.
Pilatus had an open Pilots job until 1 month ago or so. Seems like they've got one.
But you should ask, and in case it wouldn't work you still can work as a flight Instructor in the company's flying group.
We have a Piper L4, Grumman Tiger & Socata Tobago if you'd be interested

Thanks for the replies everyone, and even though the ferry pilot side of things looks quite unlikely it seems that Pilatus may be worth a try purely as an engineering contract.
