Well that did make me laugh!

Not strictly true old chap...avionics testing is completed on integration rigs to prove system requirements and to establish system limitations prior to flight testing. A/C testing is not used to validate results obtained on the rigs - A/C testing is used to test requirements that require a dynamic environment that cannot be model on the ground.
And the bit about aircrew gaining experience on the rigs - well I must of missed you chaps because you are always noticable by your absence !
