Interesting FTE Job Listing
Has anyone else seen the FTE job listing on the SFTE website?
I've seen many job descriptions for a professional Flight Test Engineer, but this one takes the cake.
I'm especially fond of this line in the description:
Makes in-flight repairs, such as replacing fuses, adjusting instruments, and freeing jammed flight control cables, or takes emergency measures to compensate for failure of equipment, such as autopilot, wing heaters, and electrical and hydraulic systems.
Sounds like a pair of pliers and duct tape are required equipment!

SIMULATION AND FLIGHT TEST ENGINEER
As an engineer in the Simulation and Flight test Unit, you will integrate the team in charge of the research domain of human factors and operations in aeronautics.
The research in particular addresses the analysis of the aircraft control function performed by human operators (single pilot, flight crew or ground operator(s)), the analysis and the development of crew assistance functions, the study of the delegation of responsibility between operators and automated functions, the study of operator-system interactions and the design of new interfaces.
This research work implies the use of methods and tools for the purposes of data analysis (among which flight operation data), human activity modelling (including formal models), flight situation and procedures monitoring, or experiments using human-in-the-loop simulation.
You will participate to data analysis, task modelling and analysis, studies of new concepts and systems. Your contribution may range from bibliographical research covering a particular issue up to the development and validation of new concepts, using existing or new tools, or modelling, design or simulation work.
You will work in collaboration with industrial partners (Eurocopter, Thales, Airbus,…), national agencies (Air Force, Civil Aviation, MoD) or other research labs (SUPAERO, IMASSA, INSERM, DLR, NASA...). You will participate to the elaboration of answers to calls to tender.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
Engineer or PhD in artificial intelligence or cognitive sciences.
A good knowledge of the aeronautic field, especially regarding the operations, is mandatory.
Related references (publications or communications) may be provided.
Skills in computing languages (C++), tools (Matlab) and operational systems (Unix, Windows).
Experience of team work required ; teaching and supervising student trainees may be part of the position.
Fluent in French and English.
