Try it type LHR-LGW and ask it to optimise the route and that is what you get..
Sorry I take it you work for Jeppesen. |
Guys/Gals
From information posted here in the past, nine UK operators (with at least 15 aircraft fleets) use the AirPlan system from AirData, seven use Jepps and two use SITA. FPM |
Now then, whilst on the subject, EMA-BHX using optimum inputs on JAS produces:
EGNX1200. .-N0460F260 DCT WAL. .EGBB0028 EGCC etc etc etc Mmmm FL260 between EMA and BHX and a distance of 168 miles. Me thinks not..... |
Fingers and Flight plan man...
I have just spent 15mins while your great system planed a route for us with the usual afternoon "COMPUTING" message to stare at for eternity, only to find that it can not get beyond the airport SID. So we do the daily call to the good old USA for them to say... "Ohhh you need to type in ESRS to get that flt plan to work" Then you do as they say and still nothing just stare at the screen make a coffee and then nothing time to call Uncle Sam again " Sorry Madam the server is busy please wait for a few hours and you should get online no problem, those ESRS routs take forever if I were you I would get the charts out" . .Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh . . |
We were actually advised by the helpdesk to get the charts out and plan the route ourselves. How very helpful.... ESRS is as much use as a chocolate fireguard, the helpdesk admit that fact http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/rolleyes.gif

Viking9, if you’ve been using the system for a decade, one would presume you’d know what. .you were doing with it by now . . . as far as I recall, ‘J’ meant find an airways route [and LA]. .meant use low airways. Not many of them between EMA-BHX and LHR-LGW last time I looked.. .What did you use to request the plan ? Mmmmm, thought so. I’d take Frankie Four Fingers advice and get yourself booked on a course . . .AirOpsOne, I wouldn’t bother with using ESRS, you’ve already been told so why do keep using it, dah ! We don’t and our ops get the plan in about 10 seconds. Enough of this c**p, I’m losing the will to live . . .

airfixer - actually, I have used JAS on and off for the last decade and know 100% how to use it so no training required. My opinion, and afterall, this is an opinion and rumour network, is that JAS is pants for around Europe bearing in mind the current state of affairs within IFPS. It would be very useful if JAS provided the support and back up for those who need it. Has anyone got any contacts for Air Data ??
Have a nice day now |
1970`s technology in the 21 century. All I want is a system that doe’s its job when I want it to I.e.: If I want to ferry to LGW from LHR then it does it strait away not putting in loads of funny codes if I wanted to do that then I would get out the charts and do it myself....BUT we pay loads of money for a system to do it for us..
Frankie 4 Fingers and monkey spanker you obviously work for Jeep’s and I dare say you both know the system inside out but even your colleges in the good old USA admit that its out dated and European airspace has changed so much over the last few years that they cant keep up. I admit that if you use it for schedule route’s day in day out it can be given the human touch every now and then. But like here we have 10 or so large biz jets operating in Europe and the States, it is a real pain for fastball changes IFPS change your route’s most of the time. Sorry to drag this out but as your company has no way of to pass ideas or criticism then may PPRUNE be our way of doing it in public.. . [ 03 February 2002: Message edited by: AirOpsOne ]
|
Dear Air Oops 1. .First please get a dictionary and learn how to spell !. .Second I dont work for Jepp's or reside in the good ole USA. .I think I have a good understanding of flight planning within Europe, but have you heard of the RAD or UK SRD, if not, then these documents will point you in the right direction.. .I currently work for a company where the routings of the aircraft can change on an hourly basis throughout Europe, and myself and my colleges dont have a problem adapting to last minute alterations to the flying program. So are you scared of change ???
And please could you enlighten us on what wonderful system you use ?!? Cheers ML [ 04 February 2002: Message edited by: monkey lover ]
|

I quite agree with you. Worldwide flight planning here and even if I've done the training in LGW, I still have problems running flight plans. Even if you use correctly your <--> </> <J> (...) I still have some error messages time to time. Nice to have the DEN guys on the phone, but their answer is sometime so technical that you need to be an engineer to understand what he has done to run your plan... AND THIS IS WHAT I HAVE ON MY SCREEN RIGHT NOW...: Internal Server Error. .The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.. .Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.. .More information about this error may be available in the server error log. |
Airfixer....fascinated to read your reply. Which system do you use that can calculate 10 hour flights to +/- 1 minute???? Does it do finances, market predictions next weeks lottery numbers as well? Was this befote the 20 min hold or after??? Me thinks you exaggerate some what eh!
