Security?
A friend flew to Jersey from a UK airport. For a variety of reasons he had a SKY digibox in his carry on luggage.
He told the security on dury he had it in his hand luggage and expected them to X-Ray and or examine it before letting him fly.
They did neither - the X-Ray was down (and had been for 4 days!) and the physical exam was on the lines of "Thats a SKY digibox, got one of those myself".
I am neither a pilot nor fly regularly but I was somewhat shocked by such poor security.

JER lack of Security
I work at Jersey Airport for Airline Services 
, Unfortunatly Woff1965, they have got rid of the Airport staff access directly Airside. Due to 9/11, we ALL have to go through security 
.Working on a Saturday (the busiest time in Jer), we can have ques of up to 300 going through 2, of 3 machines. This could have been why your mate wasn't fully searched!
