Process for Calculating fuel Tankering

Hello Folks,
I am a trainee Flight Dispatcher and needs to understand more about Fuel Tankering and dealing with scenarios where there is no fuel available for return sector,
In case where refueler isn't available at return sector, I was told the calculation For total fuel for round trip is [Minimum Fuel of 2nd Sector + Trip of 1st Sector]

I fail to understand why is it Trip of 1st sector and not Burnoff of 1st sector?

Thanks for Clarifying

OP, is this an exam question, in which case learn what answer the exam wants. If it’s real life then clearly just add the extra penalty for additional burn to the total. If adding an extra 5T for the return you may need to add an extra 3-400kg for the tankering. So do, job done, happy days.
