Dispatch/Operations - First Job

Hi All
Feeling fed up at the moment in my job and need a new challenge. Been driving buses for 5 years and looking at moving forwards...
I've always wanted to get into the aviation industry, ever since I was little. I'm 25 now and want to get there, I'd love to work either in dispatch or in flight operations but I've been looking and all the jobs seem to want a couple of years experience.
Can anyone help with any pointers towards getting that first job and gaining some experience... Are a lot recruited internally from other ground staff jobs such as PSA's?
I'm willing to relocate anywhere in the UK really as I'm fed up of living in Teesside now and want a fresh start.

Have a look at Jet2, they seem to be recruiting a lot of PSA's for the summer season at the moment.. and in lots of different locations. I could thing of a lot worse companies to work for. Its a good foot in the door.

Not too difficult to get a job as a PSA / ramp lad / dispatcher but none of them will pay well enough to relocate.

You'll be looking at zero hour contracts or 20hrs if you're lucky

With no experience, your best way in is probably working up through as a ramp monkey, then into ramp ops.

Could try and get hold of the email address for the right person in an airline or agent or something and explain you don't have any relevant experience in the industry but want to get into it and where would they suggest you get some experience.

You'll probably not get many replies, but it would only take a few minutes to respond, so if it ends up in the right persons inbox and they're in the right mood, you may get a very useful reply.

I was in same situation like yours when i graduated from uni. but never give up. I graduated from aviation management department at uni and was looking for job around 6-7 months i've applied many companies in istanbul but i didnt get any respond from many of them. So i got job in represantation company with my friend's help(he was working for that company) and its been 1,5 year im working here started as an supervisor of airline and became OCC now.

My opinion from airport experience apply for handling companies like swissport etc. if you can get job as an traffic agent or ops agent it is going to be great experience for you. Traffic agent and ops agent they work in field and you will be in action always not like sitting in office and writing dozens of emails. As i said try to get job from handling companies most of them not looking for experience.

Good luck.
