FPL changes in November

How is everyone getting to grips with the changes coming through in terms of flight planning requirements? Is it me, or does Eurocontrol make things more confusing

I'm surprised that no one has answered you! Does that mean that people aren't aware of the required changes?

I would be very surprised if people are not aware !

Total nightmare. Having entered the relevant PBN codes in our data file, IFPS reject the FPL based on the fact the entry in field 18 is too long despite the codes corresponding with actual equipment fit.

I think the biggest issue will be a lack of uniformity in the interpretation and application of the new format among ANSPs. It remains to be seen what the impact of this will be.

In my experience, Eurocontrol have probably been the most accommodating agency in having opened up a test facility for airlines, flight planning providers and wheoever else to 'practice' against.

More fun and games to come next year, with the introduction of compulsory, comprehensive 4d profile information in every FPL (which must then be followed)

Eurocontrol test facility

How might I access that flight plan coding test facility? The FAA would have pre-empted a lot of problems if they would have set one up. Between service providers, aircraft manufacturers and company guidance, there is plenty of room for confusion and conflict. I would love to be able to test the proposed coding for the three aircraft that I am responsible for.

TIA
