Thumbs up Final assessment for gatwick airport

hey guys,

I have my final assessment next week for gatwick airport security officer! Would appreciate any help with what goes on for the 4 hour session?

Some things I would love to know is:

What questions are asked in the competency interview? Any of the same questions that was on the tele interview?

Is there some sort of observation test in a form of pics or vids and picking up security and safety threats?

Is there a group discussion? what is the roleplay consist of?

If any of you are currently going through the earlier stages and need some help i am more than glad to help!

I wouldn't bother with the stress and nastiness that goes with the security role. Not only are some airport/airline staff utter cocks (they seem unable to put pen to paper to write to MPs et al about the farsical dft arrangements), but the nasty politics that exist between security teams can be more than childish. It can be down right hurtful. Throw into the mix the constant union bickering and you soon get worn out, or turn into a security drone.

I'd apply for a trolley recovery job. Little to no passenger or staff interaction. Just you and your team. 12 hour shifts, but you only work 5 hours of them (half hour on, half off then 1 hour lunch break, MOL would go mad if any of his contract pilots had those terms!) can't speak for GIP at GAL but that's how the old BAA system worked. Happy days indeed. If pax interaction is what you want, try a job on the info desks. You need a second language I believe.

Good luck!

Id say the more you baa the better. Herd mentality and no wits or imagination is exactly what they are looking for.

BAA Security Officer Job

With regard to security jobs with BAA, they have quite a long and time wasting selection process. At the end of which they will ask you to give details of a referee, eg, your last employer. What may not be clear is that they attach huge importance to the reference. They may also fail to read between the lines, eg, why your last employer saw fit to give a poor reference. It does not matter that you may be CRB and CTC cleared, it all hinges on the reference. What BAA don't seem to appreciate is that, if you were a true potential terrorist, supplying an excellent reference would not be a problem. Just get one of your terrorist or dodgy mates to give one. If you are an honest Joe things can be harder.

Is this thread a wind up? It surely has to be. There have been multiple posts from clueless people asking the most ridiculous questions. Additionally the majority of posts display a poor grasp of written English. If this is the typical standard of applicant either we are doomed or "Security" is farce we have always believed it is (or maybe even both).
