Menzies LHR
Hearing strong rumours of an almighty carveup of the old Aviance by new owners Menzies. If true, it's taken them less than a fortnight to put in a restructure. So much for Tupe.

Doesn't surprise me one bit.. Staff needs optimised... having people run around only performing one task such as chocks.. pushback only (in which some people have it worked out that they can sleep for 4 hours at a time..).. lifting crew bags only followed by heavy newspaper reading and the odd trip to deliver 4-10 bags then back to the baggage bay.... im not shocked at all about it
They did advertise 6-10 full time ramp jobs in the first week of October, although closing date may have went by already

Some Companies Pushbacks , only do Pushbacks and towing , because they don't have the time to do anything else !!! ie : too busy ..., but then again i can see why Aviance were in such dire straits , too many supervisors ( ramp team leaders ) , too many Allocaters , most of which are on regular O/T ... , and far too many Mangers , and the staff go tom and dick at regular intervals , but if i wasn't losing money doing it , i'd do the same ....

Oh I'm not denying that in some companies it needs to be worked that way, but if the guys on the ramp can work it out so that they can take it in turns sleeping for hours on end or doing nothing then there's too many staff and the new management as noticed it...
As for managers, there's always too many of them

Ok , but not everyone can push A/C , i've seen blokes go , yeah no problem , then when their sitting in that tug seat , the nerves go , legs start shaking , can't concerntrate on the radio and push at the same time , etc, etc ... and that's before they even start to reverse push when towing....
