Document Management Systems

How much should an airline expect to pay (approx) say per month for a fully comprehensive and regulatory compliant document management system?

Depends on a million different things:
  • Fleet number / types
  • Web based or conventional documents
  • Budget
  • Local Authority
Give a few more details of what you are setting up.

Expandable

There are many options available depending on the some of the factors that the other responder mentioned. I have actually been in this particular type of solutions for the past 15 years. I think the most important factor is choosing a solution that is expandable and configurable. Regulations and content format will always change. You do not want a solution that is outdated in a short period of usage.

Cost can vary from $90,000 to $600,000 to purchase a solution.

Hope this helps.

Don't take this lightly

Better get some expert advice on this. A doc mgmnt system is a strategic tool and its selection and implementation is a major task that can have long reaching impact. In most implementations, extensive customization is a necessity increasing the cost of the solution.

I know of a company that went for an OSS (open source software) product (blinded by the apparently low price) and they got into serious trouble pretty fast!

Treat this as a high-risk, major project if not ...
