Don't think you need a license for the ops controller job.. it just says "an advantage"

Looks like they are looking for experienced ops bods there, and splitting the flight planning bit to those with the GCAA license.

Ops "Con"

The latest garbage from the sandpit...

The following is an extract from the advert for this ops controller job in DXB...Bear in mind that they want all these qualifications but are only willing to pay "£40 - £48/day". Note also the currency, this could be interpreted as them looking for expats, maybe even from UK. Now who in their right mind would move to DXB for 4 quid an hour??, assuming they paid you their 'top' rate and you worked 12hrs/day, every day, for a month..you wouldn't even make a 1,500quid!!!.

So, to anyone in FlyDubai reading this (it is a flydubai advert). Perhaps you should consider quoting your salaries in the local currency of the UAE, Dirhams, or better yet, quote it in Rupees!!...Because nobody is gonna come to DXB, with a degree AND experience for less than a McDonalds wage!

As follows....

Job Purpose
The Operations Controller (OC) is responsible for functional oversight of all actions and decisions within the Network Control Centre (NCC) and for all flight operations including Irregular Operations (IRROPS). The OC works with representatives of all departments in the NCC to maintain a safe and timely schedule.
Job Outline
  • Monitor all flights to ensure flydubai network integrity.
  • Align flying programme in line with operational and maintenance requirements.
  • Exercise operational control and flight supervision. Decide on initiation, continuation, diversion, and cancellation of flights due to operational or environmental factors.
  • Arrange and coordinate the re-routing and/or re-planning of flights as necessary.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to all the NCC personnel and contract service providers dealing with technical/mechanical defects and any other aircraft support services issues.
  • Co-ordinate with Flight Dispatch to provide quick flight planning assistance when desired by the Commander of an aircraft.
  • Perform daily analysis of all operational delays across the flydubai network.
Critical Competencies
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to work under pressure in an ever changing environment
  • High level of time management and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Very good IT skills
  • Willingness for shift work 24/7
  • Ability to decipher weather reports and NOTAMS
  • Working knowledge of airline operational procedures
  • Knowledge of aircraft performance
Qualifications
  • University/College degree preferred
  • A levels or equivalent required
  • Dispatch licence is an advantage
Experience
  • 3+ years in airline operations
  • Flight planning an advantage
  • Knowledge of CAP371

You will need that much in DXB just for beer money. I presume they are providing accomodation too, all companies do in DXB due to the unbelieveable cost of accomodation

ops controller DXB

They must be joking even if they provide accomadation and all the food
it ridiculous

Some Idiot will take it no doubt and become a slave to these Sand Shovelling Moorons who think GOOD ops Controllers can be paid this amount.

As someone said u can get more at Macdonals than this.

You only get what you pay for

Antonov Man, am afraid to say that these days accomm is not part of any package in DXB, at least at ops controller level, those days are gone mostly. You take that job; you are on your own. Fly Dubai have a reputation for crap packages anyway.

But as Learjet50 said, someone will take it. There are plenty of sheep being churned out month by month from that dispatcher factory in DXB. Lots of meat for the grinder and they will stomp each other to bits and undercut one another to get that job too. There is no wobbly head emoticon here so I will use this one instead... .

Hmmm thinks really have change then
One of the reasons i came home from DXB was when they moved us all out to the new Emirates Housing area in Al Quoz, the ****tiest part of Dubai. Nice apartments but in the middle of nowhere, no phones, internet no roads built then, it was awful
But housing was provided by all, hell even all the guys in the irish village had company accommodation, no-one could afford accommodation in DXB

Flt Dispatch at Emirates Airlines?

Does anybody know what salary package do they actually offer? And how many Europeans are there? Not a racist but really would not like to work in the office flooded with Ahmads, Baboos and other Vijays who have been undercutting each other.
Thank you.

Do you get paid any more than this in the UK? £7 per hour after you take off the tax etc it's not far off.

Post EK flight dispatching

I applied for Flight dispatcher position in EK, the recent one. It shows online as the application is "under review". does it mean anything. Is my application really being reviewed? please put some light on the application process. I am a GCAA licensed flight dispatcher, desperate to join EK....working in DXB at the moment...
