Code F runway width requirements
Could someone please clarify the ICAO stipulations for this.
I understand it used to be 60m recommended ie. "'should" but I am being led to believe that it is now obligatory 60m ie. "shall''.
Is this true ?

Interim requirements for flight testing etc. were:
45m full loadbearing strength + 7.5m shoulders giving 60m.
Additional pair of 7.5m shoulders should be provided to avoid FOD ingestion and provide support for fire and rescue equipment. Takes you to 75m
Full code F requirements
Minimum 60m full loadbearing. Shoulders of 7.5m recommended to give overall minimum of 75m.
Obstacle free zone shall extend to at least 77.5m either side of centreline.
All sorts of other requirements regarding distance. particularly important when 2 'Code F' aircraft could be operating simultaneously.

As far as I'm aware, all of the relevant paragraphs relating to runway widths in Annex 14 are Recommended Practices. For Code F the recommended runway width is 60m with symetrical runway shoulders providing a width (of runway an shoulder) of at least 75m.

I thought the same as you Spitoon, are you sure about that Greuzi ?
Do you have a document number and date that I can look up, as when I look in Annex 14 it does appear to be recommended only, yet I do get the feeling that this has since been ammended to stipulate that 60m runway width is now mandatory and that you are right.

60m mandatory + (recommended) shoulders = 75m
I can't see many CAA's authorising without 75m though. Will have a think and see if there are any regular scheduled airports operating with less than 75m
