Difference between flight ops, ground ops, airline/flight/passenger dispatcher etc.
Dear All,
I'm a bit confused with terminology and naming of various job titles. Would you be so kind to give me a short overview of what do the followings do? :
- airline dispatcher
- flight dispatcher
- passengers dispatcher
- ramp dispatcher
- ramp officer
- ramp operations
- flight operations
- ground operations
- airfield operations
- operations controller
- operations officer
- any other ops?
I have the feeling that some of the above stand for the same but that's just my assumption. I'll be very grateful for your help.

Flight dispatchers (FAA)
First be aware that there are differences between "UK" aviation English, and the "US" aviation English... Then, a Flight Dispatcher as per FAA is a certificated airman who prepares flight documentation for an airline flight under FAR 121 (or FAR 135) and monitors the flight from departure until arrival at destination.
