Unconfirmed but...

(1st post here but have been reading the forums for weeks n weeks so ... hi all ! )

I hear down probably not the strongest of grape vines that Aviance may also handle Swiss Air at some point as part of the star alliance since Lufthansa is also handled by them. Who knows... would be a slight boot in the chops for Swissport to lose the name sake airline though

It's a long time since Swissport has been related to any airline, the collapse of Swissair following 9/11 to be precise. IF we lose Swiss then it will be a sad day, but certainly no worse than losing FCA, who were the airline that brought us in to BHX eight years ago.

I just hope that the commercial person is pulling their finger out and securing some new contracts for us, and not relying on worldwide deals from the parent company.

Well its only the rumor mill mate. Probably based on nothing more than the fact their part of SA n seemingly tend to follow each other round at various stations. Educated guess work as opposed to anything concrete. I was quite surprised about FCA i must say.

There are also things flying about (excuse the terrible pun) about PIA and AirIndia as well.

Last I was told was Air India had been asking round but where stopping where they are, PIA are always talking about moving. They certainly won't get better service if they move so probably just trying to reduce the price!!

Sounds about right i heard Air India were poking around Aviance , probably something to do with the london contracts with them. Doubt they will move though.

Flight dispatch/operations..

Hi there, any ideas on the best company to work for regarding a position in Dispatch/operations at MAN?
Would prefer to work for an airline, but looking for the best payers/benefit incentives.
Thanks

MAN

Menzies handle WW on ramp

Swissport now handle VS as of Dec 10th 2007, also will take over AF and KLM from Aviance and SAS (announced today, start date unknown), due to them both choosing to go with one handler, DL may follow over (i hope so). Swissport only handle Emirates on the pax services side at the moment, but full handling will commence once Ringway decide what they are doing!

MAN

Haven't been keeping up with the news from MAN recently... but its seems as though things aren't going too well for aviance with the loss of VS VG, GB airways (and AF soon) all fairly recently.

It seems strange as aviance seem to be doing well at most other stations...

Have they picked up any more contracts or have they had to downsize at MAN?

Southampton

I beleive Aviance is the only handling agent in Southampton and thus handle everything.
