flight planning systems
I am interested to find out what flight planning systems operators are using and which airlines are contracting their flight planning/flight watch requirements.
Before you ask I am not a salesman for a new wizzo system but am trying to get a handle on what tools of the trade guys and gals are using .

Hi cyco,
where are you moving from? The U.S., Asia, Middle East, continental Europe?
Which size airline are we talking about? business charter & ambulance, big charter, scheduled airline?
Don't get me wrong, but it really sounds like fishing around....

When I worked for a regional air operator in Canada, I was tasked with evaluating a number of different flight operations software programs and service providers.
The most user-friendly and cost effective system available was the integrated packages offered by Navtech Inc.

have seen both Sabre and Navtech (including the new Aurora). I agree that Navtech is pretty neat. Qantas uses SITA right, so are we talking Ansett?
From what I heard Navtech has a branch in the U.K. now. As does Jeppesen and, of course, SITA. Dunno about Sabre and who of the big ones is using it (would be intersting to find out). Would also be interested how Navtech Aurora is doing (if I am not mistaken they read this group ).
Guess when you will be arriving you'll see the same mixture as is Oz/Asia with the big ones.
SITA and JAS are pretty common among major airlines. Small corporate outfits use PPS (a Danish system).
However, you'll also find operators using Onsight or Lido. SWR has an own system (dunno whether they are already selling it).

I have found Airpath by Sabre a great system
for both planning and flight watch.
One of the things we have to generate are UPR's or User Prefered Routings across the Pacific. Previously we flew the Flex tracks generated by Oakland but now we generate our own tracks using more upto date wx which is has a projected saving of 2 million a year in fuel. We arent quite to the stage of DARPing yet as a few of the FIR's cant handle it.
But it leaves me amazed and what the developers out there are generating for us to play with.

Whooaahh gave me a contact for Navtech a while back so I should give him a call, from what I remember their office is just outside of EGKK.
Also does anyone have any screen shots of what Navtech, Sita, Jepp etc .

re the screen shots try Navtechs www page. They had some good samples on the net. As far as JAS is concerned, this is just a plain terminal emulation (pretty stable though). Re Jeppesens new system Onsight I dunno whether they already published screenshots on the web.
As far as SITA is concerned I had some screenshots, but dunno where I put them.
Have seen the graphical display of Airpath, when in Asia.
