Question Avtech 2000

Thinking of putting some of our newer ops officers thro the Avtech 2000 Flight Dispatch Course ( City and Guilds ).

Any comments as to usefullness of this course - from those in the know? Ops officers concerned have no direct previous experience and are currently learning on the job.

I would suggest the City & Guilds 723 "Aviation Studies" first as it gives your students a very good grounding on the industry as a whole.

If you sent inexperienced new-hires straight into specialist "Dispatcher" training it would be like sending kids driect from Primary school into uni.

That's my US$0.02 worth.

We offer the C&G Aviation Studies and the Ops/Dispatch course as the standard qualification. It is as Whooaahh says a very good grounding and perhaps the most accredited course available in the UK. Do these two first then think about the FAA licence.

The AVTECH correspondence course is good and the costs reasonable, exams with the C&G are run in June and December.

Thanks for replies so far ........

If we go ahead with this, we will, of course, complete the foundation course before going for the main course.

Question still remains - is there anything else out there as good or better? ( not counting FAA/LBA courses )
