Getting a job?
Hi there,
I'm currently looking for a job with an airline based at Glasgow or Prestwick. I'm a University student, currently doing my PPL.
I have a huge interest in aviation, as it's the career path I would like to follow once I leave University, so I would like to try and gain some experience with an airline while I'm at University.
Does anyone know what the best way to get a role with an airline would be? Or if there are any current positions in the airport I named above?

I think the first rule for you will be -don't be choosy- be prepared to travel anywhere.
Choosing EGPK or EGPF will be a recipe for nothing to happen in your career. I take it that you are young enough to travel so don't box youself in.

bmi are recruiting customer service agents at GLA just now (if it has to be GLA or PIK). would most likely only be a 6 month contract @ 20 hours a week to begin with but with the summer season coming up theres usually overtime. as with most airlines, other departments vacancies (eg dispatch) are filled internally so you would need to start as a csa.
youd either be trained in EK's system and mainly do their flight to begin with or trained in bmi and bmibaby first, eventually leading to all 3 systems.

dont work at PIK so dont know of anything there sorry

Yeh I understand that but I go to University in Glasgow, I have family in Glasgow, I fly at Prestwick, my friends are in Glasgow, and since this would be a low hour job/part time job then ideally I would prefer to stay in this area, if it was full time then I would travel anywhere if I had to

Why not trying to get a job as line crew, fueling and dispatching airplanes. Don't know how it works in your area, but in US we always have line crew people working at airports and FBO's. Belive me it will look good in your CV and you will get in touch with a lot of people, and a lot of connectiones in the future. I did that for two years when I was in college.
