Question Quick Question

Howzit Everyone?

Had a quick question to ask. Handling Agents, such as Swissport, Servisair and Aviance. What exactly do they do? Provide ramp services, fueling, catering. I am most interested to know if they provide flight dispatchers or something similar to do weights and balance ect. I ask as I am currently looking into placements within Airline Ops, and that would be something I would be particularly interested in, did a little on some work experiance many moons ago, found it very interesting. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as well as if anyone knows where I may be able to get a placement ect.

Cheers In Advance

What Do we DO????

Sometimes I have to ask myself this question as well, All 3 handling companies you mention have thier own Flight Dispatch/Operations departments. They are normally the hub of the overall handling operation as they are responcible for updating the screens that the other departments work from, Is the money good for what they do? Hell NO!!!, All 3 companies pay is dire, Aviance are proberly the best paid followed by Swissport & finally Circusair, I have heard that Menzie''s aviation are quite good with regard to cash, Can't wait until they decide to branch out a bit more. If you are desperate to work as a Flight Dispatcher then I'd advise going on all 3 websites & looking at the Jobs situ, some airports also have thier own Job centres which the companies use to get the next lot of fools from. All the companies are now looking at recruiting due to the impending summer season & the delay it takes to get your CRC (Record Check) back from Disclosure Scotland. Good Luck.................

I am actually keen to work at BHX, However I am a second year uni student looking for an ops placement for a year. I understand its quite a seasonal business, do you think I would have a chance on the grounds it would only be for a year. Irrespective I am going to send them a letter with my CV and hope for the best, but would be good to know what my chances are. Thanks very much for the heads up Flap15Geardown, much appreiciated.

Cheers

Do you mean all those ops flashes? we handled BE before my time and ive been there for nearly two years and we still keep getting them. On my last lot of nightshifts i'm sure we got up to about edition 5 of there mayfly (Plus all the other ammendments as various things go tech). I just keep having visions of our nextdoor neighbors not getting any of these vital messages . Do any other former handaling agents of BE have this problem or is it just us up north? It must be costing them a fortune when you think about it.

There seem to be a few there from Aviance, and Servisair before that, who have dealt with them before. I don't think there are any illusions amongst the staff about what is about to happen For some reason the management don't seem to understand what it is they have done

Hey Bush Baby,

Anyone in there missing me yet? Hope it's all going better than it was - slim hope I know, but you never can tell.

The Flybe handlers at BHX really don't know what's about to hit them. Brace yerself, cos here I come!

On one day shift we had 6 differant aircraft down to operate one flight, when that aircraft finally arrived it went Tech, I've played at both SOU & BHX with Flea Be & the aggro at both was just the same, Hey Flap 15 prepare to get the odd Scotland to SOU flight drop in without warning as the shed's (Sorry DH-8's) gone tech in flight, then the crew decide they've gone out of hours (but are alright to fly the aircraft without pax). Its happenned to me twice both after 2000 hrs so don't expect any help from the Flea be staff (long gone by this time). when the delays occur & the pax get nasty, guess who go's missing. MMmmmmmmm!!!! Good Luck

Ooooh bush baby, who is your next departure? I'm Curious?

I know of 1 leaving end of feb. Is the circus still bad or is it worse? Bet you'll be enjoying no 12 hour POP and SFB delays this year eh? and no worrying about watching them greek bound 400's take off

Hey Bush Baby,

Yep, all done and BHX bound from next month. Flying in to you guys Valentine's Day from BHD, so shove Swissport out of the way and get the flags out for me. Just beware the spinning blades of death - props can kill, and probably will with me at the helm! Be good to see you all again. Say hi to everyone in the office.

TJ

Good to catch up the other day. Best of luck with the ATC thing. Hope it works out for you.
