Question Jobs (Merged thread)

Just a quick question.Does anyone know of any jobs going in Ops etc at East Mids? I need a job as quick as possible, I've got my F-ATPL, but the prospects of getting a flight crew job straight away are slim to say the least. Any help would be appreciated.

I've worked on the ramp there for a well known freight company, but I would struggle going back to pushing 2 tonne cans again. Way too many friends have been injured doing so

Cheers

JAS

Unfortunately, since the winter season has begun, the airport is deadly quiet, and is likely to stay that way until about March time. NEMA is extremely seasonal, so its handling agents tend to have contracted staff over a period of time. Chances are with the new FR base opening now in February, jobs should begin to open up with Servisair just after Christmas. KISS, who handle bmibaby, Thomas Cook & Menzies I'm not sure about, so it's worth asking around.

Menzies (KISS) have all of their recruitment done through an external recruitment agency called Aviation Resource who you'd have to get in contact with, unfortunately I don't have their details to hand right now. This summer has been busy for Menzies as it's been the first they've handled an airline other than bmibaby & Eastern.

I don't see any handling agent positions either on the ramp or on the passenger side opening up until February/March time which would be the best time to contact. In the meantime, try Coventry, friend recently tried out for Aviation Handling, and they're meant to be a fine little company.

bmibaby.com........... thanks for the information.I've worked for Aviation Resource in the past.

Looks like I've just got to get a short term job elsewhere, then look to a permanent Airport job in February time. Or I could go back to cabin crew

Cheers

Whilst the Ops Departments are currently not hiring, British Airways Regional Handling & Servisair/GlobeGround at Birmingham International Airport are hiring for additional passenger service agents. Perhaps you could consider working a season in pax services to get your foot on the career ladder to your desired job posting?

Just a thought!

bmibaby.com, just out of interest where are the positions advertised? I can not find them on servisair.co.uk or aviation job search.

Cheers

They're advertised via the Airport's Job Centre Plus website.

I absolutely loved my time in passenger services, and it seems that a lot of people walk away with the same impression, although many are put off by the long hours, shift work & having abuse hailed on you all day, but its simply something you have to learn to expect. The only thing I didn't like about my time was the unpredictability of whether you'll be kept on by the end of the season, and as I wasn't, I'm currently changing jobs to cabin crew.

From my experience, Servisair are a good stopgap, but probably not the best company to make a career out of. As a team you work well together with some amazingly friendly & vibrant young people, but pressure from long-in-the-tooth supervisors & incompetent managers who want to shift the blame from their miscomings can create a lot of friction, as can the ridiculous hours & split-shifts, all for pretty dire pay. If you like a challenge, don't mind getting schtick from people further up the ladder & are good with early mornings, then definately check Servisair out.

Menzies appears to be the big "up-and-comer" at EMA having successfully been operating ramp procedures for WW for 3 years now, and also handling both front-of-house & ramp for T3 & TCX. Staff seem to be a close-knit bunch with good pay & a stable roster, although a fairly seasonal company due to the TCX contract. A lot of rumours circulating through EMA that EZY are unhappy with the Servisair contract at EMA (apparently management were at the airport today), and a move to Menzies similar to other stations may be planned for S06.

Both companies will begin to advertise for new staff just after Christmas (no doubt SG before with the new FR base opening on the second week of Feb 06) for positions across the company.

Question Jobs

Hi,
Does anyone know where to apply or which companies/agencies for a position of an Aircraft Mover (I think the job title is right, as in pushing and towing aircraft) at Gatwick/Heathrow?
Thanks in advance

The recruitment website for Nottingham East Midlands Airport is a company who can certainly afford to advertise on PPrune themselves where both the airport company, and various tenant companies advertise any recruitment opportunities that they have.

Also be advised to check for passenger services & ramp jobs offered by Servisair-GlobeGround, as well as for jobs with various aviation companies at the airport, including Menzies.

If there is any vacancy at bmi or bmibaby, they tend to be advertised on their website, alternatively, the companies have a special recruitment phone number for recorded information & to speak to an operator.

If BHX & CVT are an option, each have their own airport websites, often with a link to vacancies.

EMA & BHX each have open days over the next few weeks with various companies attending, if you want to find out more.

keep your eyes posted onto

Thats they only media that covers the whole of the UK. All the others are locally based at each airport - many with their own web sites - or their own Airport newspaper for airposrt staff

good luck!

Folks,

There's no problem with posts about job hunting in this forum, but to keep things neat and tidy, could you all try and stay in this thread. Also no links to agencies, etc. - if they want to advertise on PPrune, I'm sure that they can afford it, but what amounts to free advertising doesn't do our site any favours.
