EK to the US from NZ?
Hello,
First of all, I don't know if this is the correct spot to ask this question. Forgive me if it's the wrong spot.
Anways, do you think Emirates will ever operate a flight from New Zealand for Australia to the U.S.?

But it is highly unlikely to ever happen. Outside of the EU an operator from one country is bound by the 5 freedoms of aviation. Inside the EU we have an Open-skies policy.
For a 5th Freedom flight, that is the carriage of passengers or cargo from a state other than the operators own to another country which is not the operators state requires the legal approval of the two states involved.
Since all the states in your question have their own resident airlines it is highly unlikely that approval would ever be granted.

Emirates are in fact considering opening a base in AKL, with the plan of operating AKL-LAX etc.
The NZ government is highly likelt to approve the service to increase competition on the rout as it is monopolised by Star carriers UA/NZ.

Any Idea why people think that Emirates may operate from AKL to LAX ? Since the strat, EK always operated their new flight from Dubai where is the busiest Middle East hub.
Emirates flight to NYC is currently operating with almost full load and demand keeps on increase. Don't be surprised to see DXB/NYC daily flight becomes double daily. This is the way that EK plans its schedule. If no profit..no operation. Well done EK.

Why would EK want to do DXB-SYD-AKL-LAX? We've got the A345, as well. If SQ can do SIN-LAX & SIN-JFK, then I think we're more than capable of doing LAX from this Latitude, without going down south (pardon the expression).

This is undoubtedly, a possiblility for Emirates to operate such a route. Whilst EK do not have sufficient equipment at present to introduce a route of this duration (DXB-OZ-AKL-LAX/SFO/JFK), they certainly will in the future with the delivery of more aircraft.

Would you not agree, that speculation is all we have until route's are published in black and white? Thus whatever the EK Planning department has planned for the next phase of Emirates development, is just that, a plan. And one that I would guess to be fully flexible.

Have to agree with you mate; it's precisely that flexibility that has got EK where it is today - anything is fair game on paper and indeed a comprehensive 'wish-list' is needed for guidance, growth plans, etc. What those new a/c actually end up operating once they are delivered and enter service can be anyone's guess - that's been proven a few times in the last year or so.

EK AKL base
I heard a rumour - locally in NZ within the industry - that EK were planning to open a AKL base. Presumably this means they would operate point-to-point routes, rather than using AKL as a stop-off for Dubai - USA traffic, it clearly would make no sense to travel east from DXB to get to LAX/SFO/JFK etc.
FYI, the AKL-LAX route is operated by NZ (codesharing with UA) and QF (codesharing AA/BA) but yes I agree it would be good to see further competition.
