Lu Zuckerman 12th July 2001 22:05

71 years old in December

Started in aviation at 19 while in the US Coast Guard. Crew chief on helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. Attended University while in the Coast guard and continued after discharge.

First job as a tech rep trainee at Sikorsky. Attended classes on 5 basic helicopter types and helicopter auto pilot and built and tested every major assembly on those five types. Program lasted fourteen months.

Left Sikorsky to manage a training program for US Army mechanics and maintenance officers on Sikorsky helicopters.

Left helicopters for about eight years working on the Redstone Missile, the Atlas ICBM and the Saturn IVB.

Got back into helicopters working as a Reliability/Maintainability engineer on the Cheyenne, the integration of helicopters on the LHA Assault ship, Apache, Agusta 129 and the EH101 and finally the V22. Manager of Technical Assistance Branch at Bell Helicopter International in Iran. Got my A&P while in Iran.

I have my own consulting business and have worked on various programs ranging from R&M on commercial cargo conversions, The CL 604 and Regional Jet, The European Space Station to the reliability analysis of capital equipment in a pharmaceutical manufacturer.

I am presently doing the reliability analyses on the Fairchild Dornier 728 hydraulic system and when I finish that I will work on the A380 Landing gear systems.

Maybe when that is finished I’ll retire.
