I am usually a made in China guy myself, I use a multi tool daily. Then again I keep about a dozen made in China pens handy. Anyways A leatherman and the Snap-On ratcheting screwdriver are the two tools that I don't mind spending money on.

About 14 years ago I had a fantastic multitool. It was supplied by Buck and Hickman, was all stainless steel with plier/cutter and the normal blades and drivers. It had ruler measurements in metric and inches and printed or stamped into the handle were the words 'PROTOOL' and 'MADE IN AMERICA'.
Foolishly I put it down while on a job, walked away for a few minutes and it was gone when I got back.
I've searched the Internet since, but haven't found a replacement 'PROTOOL'.
If anyone has come across the maker, I'd be grateful for information.

Sounds like a Leatherman predecessor of the ST300.

Any of you guys had the chance to compare a decent SOG to the leatherman? Curious, had a sog for years and loved it till it got flogged.

I've got a Leatherman Wave with the driver bit set. But if you can afford to carry a second multi-tool, I've found the Leatherman Crunch (folding locking pliers) to be quite handy as well.

Surprisingly good though these Mickey-mouse tools are, they're no substitute for the proper thing at times. Agreed, they can get you out of a hole but respect their limitations.

JAKL..Buck & Hickman were in Salford,a massive place in the 50's I don't know if they're still trading...Try google for them or the tool.
