Photos of my time in the RAF as an Engine bod

Some of you ground crew bods might like to look at some of my photos of how the Air Crew used to Bendum and we used to Mendum plus a lot in between.

Thumbs up

Ground Crew Bods? We're all Ginger-beers and Magicians in 'ere mate.

Seriously though, although your pictures link doesn't work, the account of the Hastings crash is fascinating stuff. I've often been a passenger in the Hastings but never experienced anything out of the ordinary.

What a great site, spent ages drooling over the old pictures of the east.. ah nostalgia ! I was at RAF Bruggen 1974 - 1977 and worked on Station Flight with a Chief Tech. John Castle. John told us the same Hastings story as it seems he was on it too the night they went for a swim. Would be interested to hear if this can be confirmed . . . .

Yep there was a Junior Tech 'Spike' Castle, Engine Bod on there with us, being repatted to the UK. He was a motor bike 'nut' and very good at it too, Isle of Man TT seems to ring a bell, thanks for that..................

Sounds just like the John I worked with, he was a PP bloke and stupid with bikes. Used to smoke the old Virginia roll ups all the time even though real fags were almost free in RAFG then. Had a head of spiney hair too ! Great bloke, what a small old world . .
