HUD Manufacturers
Can anyone provide me with info on likely manufacturers/suppliers of HUD equipment, preferably in UK or Europe?
I'm looking into the use of 'simple' head-up displays in GA and also for non-aviation purposes.

Smiths Industries used to make the one fitted to Jags when I worked on them in the 80's
Probably not called Smiths anymore but used to operate out of Cloucester somehwere
Try going to websites of the likes of BAES etc or any website relating to new mil jets (MRA4 has loads of gen) and you may pick up the name of the subcontractor providing the glass cokpit which includes HUD in every new mil jet these days including tuckies and big jets etc
Thales (prenounced Taaless) seem to be a majour provide of air vehicle avionics and certainly provide lots of radio stuff and therefore may be involved with full cockpit bits n bobs
AeI (Aerosystems International) of Yeovilton might be another long shot
all should have decnet websites
might be able to give you some names when I am back in the office after the bank hol w/e
best of luck

Iggy - many, many thanks for that. All have been very useful and Smiths are indeed alive and well!
A few interesting chats with HUD people at these establishments this week have provided very valuable information and I've even found a company specialising in HUDs for cars (now there's an idea worth pursuing).
Regards
KM
