flybe engines.

In the current in flight magazine flybe comment that the core turbine is the same for the Embraer and Dash 8 engines, does this offer efficiencies with respect to maintenance process (common parts etc)?

The Dash engines are P & W, and the Embraer GE, so doubt if the cores are actually the same.

I suspect that they are trying to reassure the public that the Q400 is actually powered by jet engines (albeit turning a propellor), and is thus a modern aircraft rather than something akin to a Lancaster bomber, which is often the perception of anything with propellors.
