If Big Airways have shafted you I have every sympathy, we at LHR are being shafted too. We still have vacancies waiting to be filled but the union is the same and they are not fighting for LAE'S.
If you are an LAE the main engineering union has not fought your corner but the non licenced staff have been given the biggest boost they could have hoped for. In my opinion most of the guys who have managed to get LMA (Limited Maintenance Authorisation Status) are not worthy of the qualification. This is proven by the amount of LAE support they require. I'm not complaining too much as they generate lots of work for me!
LET THIS BE A WARNING TO OTHER COMPANIES!
The BA model might be coming your way soon, unfortunately, it seems to work! LAE's in your company join ALAE and fight now.
I tried but it was too late!
