ATM IT infrastructure?

I'm trying to figure out a bit more about the IT infrastructure needed to support an ATM system. How do you figure out how many servers/routers/switches are needed? For a "normal volume" en route center, how many servers (and what size) would you need? Anything you can point me to is helpful!

Not aircraft - the air traffic control side of things. What types of servers are needed to support an air traffic control system? How much do they cost? What other pieces of IT equipment are needed (routers, switches, etc.)?

It all depends on what your trying to connect!

Don't think of the whole Tower/ Area Control Building as a single entity but as individual pieces of equipment. That way you can build up from the bottom. You'll find that you will have a lot of separate networks, which need to be separted from each other and the outside world for security reasons alone.

PM for more advice if you want.
